Ok now comes the interresting part - I tag:

I´ve pondered posting this journal for quite some time and it appears to me, that it is necessary to make a few statements about me and the Gargoyle that i am. This refers to and the Gargoyle that she is aswell. So consider this a statement for both of us.

Ever since I have drawn pictures of myself as a Gargoyle and showcased them online, there has been a notable number of viewers that start talking about the Disney show, and how great it was. Some say I have "stolen" or "borrowed" my "Character" from Brooklyn since there are some undeniable resemblances.
I´m well aware of that.
Fact is - I didn't!
I have never thought about the show when I drew the fist pictures of myself. Why? The reason is quite simple - I live in Europe. As far as i know the show first aired in america somewhen in the year 1994. That means the show started quite some time later in Europe (I don't have the exact dates, but I bet it has been at least one year later).
The first pictures of me (one of them is actually online in my gallery) have been drawn when I was in my 2nd year in BusinessSchool. That was in 1993.
I have watched a total of.. 5 or 6 Episodes of Disneys Gargoyles and I have to admit I´m not even a fan - to me, its nice at most, but thats that. The only thing that fascinated me was the resemblance between Brooklyn and me and the fact that the Gargoyles displayed in the show are not too far from what my picture of a Gargoyle is. However - when i started drawing myself I had no means of knowing what Brooklyn would look like since the show didn't even exist back then.
So I didn't copy anything. Neither did Neomae.

Our approach to this topic is far different. We are what some might call "Otherkin". Basically Otherkin are individuals who believe or know that they are not human but something else. It can basically (tho it does not realy give credit to the many facettes and depth of the matter) be described as a human with the soul of a non-human beeing. For most of us this is a very very serious thing and depending on the individual, spirituality plays a more or less vital role in our lives. This is a very brief description of course, but I think it provides you with a glimpse to what we are and it is enough to make my point.

It's okay to me when someone does not understand it, finds it strange, etc. In todays society this is "normal" and I accept that. It is also not my task nore is it my intention to form or change someones worldview or to superimpose my view of things to them.
All we ask for is acceptance or at least respect.
It doesn't feel good to me to have people starting on Greg Weissman, Walt Disney and the nice "Character" I "created" based on the show everytime I mention the word Gargoyle be it online or reallife. I didn't create anything. I didn't have to make up a gargoyle-character in the fist place and I surely am not in need to go to some TV-series, take their character, change it a little and claim it to be mine. The Gargoyle you see is what I am and what i´ve always been. It is true that Neomae's and my identity have been subject to changes over the past few years. That is due to our progress in spirituality and the way we see ourselves. It has nothing to do with changing things every now and then when they get boring. Its a process of finding ourselves if you will. It is not some sort of roleplay to us. Other than that we lead a quite normal life like everyone else.

So in conclusion:

I will not give credit to Weissman or Disney in any of my pictures.
You don't need to give credit to Disney when drawing a picture of Neomae or me - not only does it give the viewer a wrong impression, infact it also hurts when you do.
I ask you to please leave the Disney matter out of the discussion when you comment on my pictures. I can not and will not comment on it. I have seen but a few episodes of the series and it has been ages since. I´m the wrong person to talk to on that topic.
I´m not Brooklyn, I don't identify myself with him nore am i based on him.
Neomae and me do not have anything to do with Greg Weissmans Gargoyles.

ps: Some people seem to be convinced that Gargoyles have been created by Weissman and Disney - they don't! They have existed and been known ages before TV was invented.

Hello Folks!

Time for another mind-boggling update in my journal!
Just recently i stubled across an article in a local newspaper while sitting in a doner kebab house waiting to put some jummy doner in my face. So i sat there and went through the pages when i saw a picture of a small plastic film canister - the ones you usually get when you by a film for your camera. So i thought "why is there such a big photo of such a small and rather unimportant thing over like half the magazinepage. So i started reading and it basically told me that there is some sort of hobby/sportsactivity thing called "Geocaching" where some folks hide so called "Caches" of various sizes (small tupperware boxes, foto canisters, etc.) somewhere.. well - basically EVERYWHERE. You can find them in the forrests, in the sewers, in the ocean, on top of a mountain, in the middle of a city, etc.
The coordinates of that Cache are then published on some internet site called "geocaching.com" and you have to find it using a mobile GPS system.

Well – what can I say.. and me tried it .. and now we cant stop anymore. Its highly addictive! We´ve found like 23 caches already – some are to be found only at night, some are somewhat dangerous, others are just simply hidden somewhere beneath some statue or under a rock. There are even tradable items in some caches like Geocoins, Travelbugs etc.

Hello everyone!

Remember my last journal-entry about my name-change?

Well - since Friday, March 23rd, its official: My real name is Azrael!

WHEEEE!!

Took quite some effort to get everything changed and settled (a few things still pending) and it was friggin expensive getting new passport, driving license and stuff - but it was well worth it!

It feels great

As the title indicates i did something cool i guess
At least it is something i have been wanting to do for a very long time.

As some of you might know, my real name is not Azrael but Sascha.

Ever since my first days at scool i have hated that name for numerous reasons. I have had a very hard time in school back then. I shared a classroom with a bunch of racist idiots and other very.. unfriendly individuals. I never had a girlfriend (well - now i do - but thats a different story ) and the name "Sascha" beeing not strictly male (alot of females are called Sascha aswell) and "sascha" actually beeing a russian name (i dont know why, but its some sort of russian abbreviation for "Alexander") those freaks litterally gave me hell. Long - and probably boring - but sad story.

However - I always loved the name Azrael. From the first day i entered the internet i had the opportunity to call myself that.
For the last .. 7 or 8 years i have concerned myself alot with spirituallity (beeing the pagan dude that i am) and Azrael grew more and more to be my identity. Alot of peoples started calling me Azrael RL and me beeing 28 years of age i decided that it is time for a change.

So i called a university in Leipzig, Germany, that does Name-Research on a professional basis. For a small fee they sent me 2 pages of text explaining the roots and meaning of the name Azrael, finishing with "there are no objections for the name Azrael to be used as first name"

With that statement i went straight into my hometowns civil registry office pleading my case. After a little chat with a very nice and understanding lady, i finally managed to change my REAL name from Sascha to Azrael.

Within the next 4 weeks i will receive an envelope containing my new birth certificate - and then its absolutely official!

WHEEEEEEEEEEE!

Cant find words - i`m happy beyond measure.

Just have to find a way to tell the whole thing to my parents - havent told them yet ^^
